"Report of flames and foam being discharged over the affected area of the building," Sycamore Fire Chief Bart Gilmore said. "The report was that there was a paint can that exploded. We don't know if it was dropped or if it was part of another system that they had going. Initial crews came in, met some fire. The foam suppression system was not meeting the need. The sprinkler system needed to be assisted by fire engines."

Gilmore said they are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

The Seymour company manufactures spray paint, which involves aerosol.

Gilmore said two of the people injured were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition.

"The potential was very bad, luckily they had an excellent suppression system," Gilmore said. "Luckily, we had a fast response time and the fire was able to be suppressed before any real significant damage and this became a much larger incident."

Police said there is no known threat to adjacent areas.
